Opticon1826 is an all-faculty, peer reviewed academic journal, run and edited by UCL postgraduate students who represent all UCL faculties. We publish predominantly current UCL research (ongoing and completed), but also a selection of reviews. commentaries and letters. Publication is continuous throughout the year, with articles available as soon as they are ready, in fully open access format.

Contributions are invited from all members of UCL, including undergraduates, postgraduates and staff.

Call for Editors on Opticon1826 Editorial Board

 

(a) FACULTY EDITORS

We are looking for three new Faculty Editors for Architecture (Bartlett), Laws, and Social & Historical Sciences, at Opticon1826, UCL's multi-disciplinary, peer-reviewed academic journal.

Applicants for the positions should:

  • Be currently enrolled in a postgraduate research course in the relevant faculties at UCL and be able to commit to serve for at least 1 year, preferably more.
  • Have excellent time-management skills, be proactive and conscientious.
  • Have an excellent command of written English.

Apply with:

  • A short motivational statement (1-2 paragraphs) of why you think you are suited for the role.
  • CV (max. 2 pages).
  • An essay sample precisely formatted in the journal's style (< 3000 words in length). This must NOT be a published piece.

(b) COMMUNICATIONS EDITOR

Applicants for the Communications Editor position should:

  • Be currently enrolled in a postgraduate course at UCL and be able to commit to serve for at least 1 year, preferably more.
  • Be well-organised, proactive, and conscientious.
  • Have an excellent command of written English.
  • Have a proven record of promoting events/news items through various channels, e.g. on social media networks, through email newsletters, etc.

  • A short motivational statement (1-2 paragraphs) of why you think you are suited for the role.
  • CV (max. 2 pages).
